Track days are meant to be a fun, thrilling and exhilarating experience and our recent track day at Laguna Seca with SpeedSF certainly did not disappoint. The women of FemPowered gathered on Labor Day to enjoy barreling down the infamous Corkscrew, learning and refining our driving chops, and meeting new friends along the way. Coming from a wide variety of backgrounds and skill sets from expert to novice, we all brought our A game to FemPowered’s first unofficial event, increasing our confidence and skills, session by session. It was definitely a milestone day for FemPowered with 9 female drivers hitting the track.
Looking back at my very first track day, there were only 2 women drivers in attendance. To see another female driver on track that day made me feel like I was embarking on something special and amazing. I was incredibly proud and humbled at the same time – proud knowing I was out there hanging with the boys and humbled by the sheer skill and grit it takes to actually take the leap and hit the track. Little did I know that day would be instrumental in bringing together a group of like-minded women dedicated to building a community to support and empower each other to pursue their passion in motorsports. I met Erika and Rebecca that day, and soon, together with Nancy, Jeanie and Kim, FemPowered was born.
With the same fervor, excitement and speed we take to each track day, we’ve been busy charging ahead and creating experiences to support this special women’s community. Please join us at our upcoming events. We welcome anyone wanting to help build this badass community with us!
